Maternal Health Data Visualization

Visualization 1

Scatter Chart
This scatter plot shows the relationship between the number of birth centers in a county and the maternal mortality rate (MMR). The data suggests there is not a clear linear relationship as counties that have both low and high numbers of birth centers still show a wide range of MMR values, this is an indication that other factors likely influence maternal mortality, such as the quality of the birth centers and quantity in relation to population (see below).

Line Chart
This line chart shows the relationship between the population of women ages 15 to 44 and the number of birth centers. The trend indicates that population size does not consistently increase with the number of birth centers—some counties with moderate birth center counts have higher populations, while others with more centers do not. This indicates an uneven distribution of resources when compared to the size of the population.
